ELIMINATE $6.4B BUDGET CUTS SINCE 2018
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOLS?
Last June 2025, the Minister of Education, Paul Calandra, removed our elected trustees and appointed a supervisor to oversee the entire TDSB. This individual has no background in education and is not accountable to our community.
Since then, we’ve seen:
A chaotic school reorganization process that disrupted classrooms
Removal of class size caps for grades 4–8
Increased class sizes for students with special needs
A lack of transparency in decision-making
Information about staffing and budget being withheld
Delays and changes to collective bargaining for education workers
This September as children head back to schools they will encounter the effects of these cuts.
600 teacher positions
40 Vice Principals
nearly 200 support staff positions and 300 central staffing positions.
All of these cuts directly impact our children’s daily school experience
THE NUMBERS DO NOT LIE
According to a Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) report, the Tories in their 2026 provincial budget, have cut education by 3.6 percent this year after underfunding schools to the tune $6.35 billion since they arrived on the scene in 2018.

WE NEED EVERYONE TO SPEAK OUT

You can use this Back-to School Survey tool from TEAN so that data can be collected on what is happening in our schools right now. This type of grassroots data collection is so important now that the government has removed School Climate Surveys entirely.
