Hi my name is Karen,
I am proud to be the TDSB Trustee elect in the new Ward 10, representing Beaches–East York and Scarborough Southwest.
Over the next few weeks I will be updating this site and starting a monthly newsletter to keep everyone updated about what is happening in the 56 schools in this ward and at the board.
While we wait to see if the Ministry is going to provide us with emails and offices you can continue to reach me at connect@voteemerson.ca
Please sign up for the mailing list.
NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN ELECTED,
WE HAVE WORK TO DO.
I ran because I believe public education is one of the most important things we can build together — and because I am deeply concerned about what is happening to it. For three decades, I have worked with children, youth, parents, and communities. I have seen extraordinary teachers and education workers change young people's lives. I have seen schools become places of belonging, creativity, and possibility.
But I have also watched decades of budget cuts take their toll on our children.
behind every budget cut is a child.
A child trying to learn in a sweltering hot classroom.
A student struggling with their mental health.
A teacher trying to meet the complex needs of their students.
A family fighting to get help for a child with special learning needs.
A young person who doesn't see themselves or their community reflected in what they are learning, or in the decisions being made about their future.Join me to help build a better education system for our children and our future.
